Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Julia On Stage/Julia Dancing by Penny Siopis was sold in the Modern and Contemporary African Art Online auction at Sothebys in London in March 2020. The price achieved of GBP 5,000.00 (€ 5,646.02) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. Admittedly, works by Penny Siopis have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Heat and Dust in October last year with an auction result of GBP 30,240.00 (€ 35,229.27).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Julia On Stage/Julia Dancing von Penny Siopis wurde im März 2020 in der Auktion Modern and Contemporary African Art Online bei Sothebys in London versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 5.000,00 (€ 5.646,02) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 4.000,00 – 6.000,00 angegeben worden. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Penny Siopis auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Heat and Dust im Oktober letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 30.240,00 (€ 35.229,27).
