This artwork by Paula Rego achieved an unexpectedly high price at Phillips in London in June this year. In the Evening & Day Editions auction, the work Shakespeare's Room (R. 237) sold for GBP 13,335.00 (€ 15,519.64) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 7,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Paula Rego achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Dancing Ostriches from Walt Disney's 'Fantasia' in October this year with an auction result of GBP 3,065,000.00 (€ 3,519,471.52).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 91 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Paula Rego erzielte im Juni diesen Jahres bei Phillips in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Evening & Day Editions wurde die Arbeit Shakespeare's Room (R. 237) für GBP 13.335,00 (€ 15.519,64) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 7.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Paula Rego erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Dancing Ostriches from Walt Disney's 'Fantasia' im Oktober diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 3.065.000,00 (€ 3.519.471,52).
