In November this year Phillips in New York held the auction 20th Century & Contemporary Art Day Sale, Afternoon Session, which included this untitled work by Pat Steir. The »bidding war« ended at USD 228,600.00 (€ 209,570.96), 27% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Pat Steir have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Elective Affinity Waterfall in May 2018 with an auction result of USD 2,295,000.00 (€ 1,966,580.98).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 27 % übertroffen
Im November diesen Jahres führte Phillips in New York die Auktion 20th Century & Contemporary Art Day Sale, Afternoon Session durch, in der auch diese Arbeit ohne Titel von Pat Steir zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 228.600,00 (€ 209.570,96) und damit 27% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Pat Steir auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Elective Affinity Waterfall im Mai 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 2.295.000,00 (€ 1.966.580,98).
