This artwork by Pat Steir achieved an unexpectedly high price at Phillips in New York in November this year. In the 20th Century & Contemporary Art Day Sale, Afternoon Session auction, the work Egg #081 sold for USD 27,940.00 (€ 25,614.23) - well above the upper estimate of USD 15,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Pat Steir achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Elective Affinity Waterfall in May 2018 with an auction result of USD 2,295,000.00 (€ 1,966,580.98).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Pat Steir erzielte im November diesen Jahres bei Phillips in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion 20th Century & Contemporary Art Day Sale, Afternoon Session wurde die Arbeit Egg #081 für USD 27.940,00 (€ 25.614,23) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 15.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Pat Steir erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Elective Affinity Waterfall im Mai 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 2.295.000,00 (€ 1.966.580,98).
