In October 2016 Sothebys in Hong Kong held the auction Modern and Contemporary Southeast Asian Art, which included the work Pulang Buli Off Batangas by Pacita Abad. The »bidding war« ended at HKD 237,500.00 (€ 27,948.82), 58% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Pacita Abad - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Orange Punch, which sold at auction in May 2018 for HKD 687,500.00 (€ 75,112.47).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 58 % übertroffen
Im Oktober 2016 führte Sothebys in Hong Kong die Auktion Modern and Contemporary Southeast Asian Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Pulang Buli Off Batangas von Pacita Abad zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von HKD 237.500,00 (€ 27.948,82) und damit 58% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Pacita Abad mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Orange Punch beobachtet, die im Mai 2018 für HKD 687.500,00 (€ 75.112,47) versteigert wurde.
