Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Fermentation by Pacita Abad was auctioned at Christies in Hong Kong in May 2019, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of HKD 30,000.00 – 50,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for HKD 25,000.00 (€ 2,861.24). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Pacita Abad achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Orange Punch in May 2018 with an auction result of HKD 687,500.00 (€ 75,112.47).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Fermentation von Pacita Abad im Mai 2019 bei Christies in Hong Kong versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von HKD 30.000,00 – 50.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für HKD 25.000,00 (€ 2.861,24) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Pacita Abad erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Orange Punch im Mai 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 687.500,00 (€ 75.112,47).
