Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2019 Christies in New York held the auction Latin American Art, which included the work Machángara by Oswaldo Guayasamin. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 60,000.00 – 80,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 62,500.00 (€ 56,720.21) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Oswaldo Guayasamin - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Quito en rojo, which sold at auction in May 2011 for USD 314,500.00 (€ 218,767.39).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im November 2019 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Latin American Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Machángara von Oswaldo Guayasamin zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 60.000,00 – 80.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 62.500,00 (€ 56.720,21) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Oswaldo Guayasamin mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Quito en rojo beobachtet, die im Mai 2011 für USD 314.500,00 (€ 218.767,39) versteigert wurde.
