This artwork by Óscar Domínguez achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in Paris in March last year. In the Une passion surréaliste : Collection Inna & Boris Salomon auction, the work Hippopotame et sphinx à Hyères sold for EUR 27,720.00 - well above the upper estimate of EUR 12,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Óscar Domínguez achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Toro Y Torero (Composition Au Taureau) in February 2015 with an auction result of GBP 1,805,000.00 (€ 2,488,826.92).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Óscar Domínguez erzielte im März letzten Jahres bei Christies in Paris einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Une passion surréaliste : Collection Inna & Boris Salomon wurde die Arbeit Hippopotame et sphinx à Hyères für EUR 27.720,00 versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von EUR 12.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Óscar Domínguez erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Toro Y Torero (Composition Au Taureau) im Februar 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 1.805.000,00 (€ 2.488.826,92).
