Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Brookdale by Oscar Bluemner was auctioned at Bonhams in Los Angeles in August this year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 500.00 – 700.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 416.00 (€ 383.80). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Oscar Bluemner achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Illusion of a Prairie, New Jersey (Red Farm at Pochuck) in November 2011 with an auction result of USD 5,346,500.00 (€ 3,974,206.50).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Brookdale von Oscar Bluemner im August diesen Jahres bei Bonhams in Los Angeles versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 500,00 – 700,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 416,00 (€ 383,80) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Oscar Bluemner erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Illusion of a Prairie, New Jersey (Red Farm at Pochuck) im November 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 5.346.500,00 (€ 3.974.206,50).
