This artwork by On Kawara achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in Milan in May 2021. In the Contemporary Art | Milan auction, the work Jan.23,1991, from "Today" series No. 1 sold for EUR 532,800.00 - well above the upper estimate of EUR 300,000.00. Admittedly, works by On Kawara have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Untitled (Decade) in May 2017 with an auction result of USD 4,175,000.00 (€ 3,715,735.14).

Dieses Kunstwerk von On Kawara erzielte im Mai 2021 bei Sothebys in Mailand einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Contemporary Art | Milan wurde die Arbeit Jan.23,1991, from "Today" series No. 1 für EUR 532.800,00 versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von EUR 300.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von On Kawara auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Untitled (Decade) im Mai 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 4.175.000,00 (€ 3.715.735,14).
