Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Okokume achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in Hong Kong in September 2021. In the Contemporary Showcase: Otaku Redux auction, the work Last Spring sold for HKD 302,400.00 (€ 33,539.05) - well above the upper estimate of HKD 150,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Okokume - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Eyes of the Soul (2 Works), which sold at auction in April this year for HKD 69,300.00 (€ 70,768.86).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Okokume erzielte im September 2021 bei Sothebys in Hong Kong einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Contemporary Showcase: Otaku Redux wurde die Arbeit Last Spring für HKD 302.400,00 (€ 33.539,05) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von HKD 150.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Okokume mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The Eyes of the Soul (2 Works) beobachtet, die im April diesen Jahres für HKD 69.300,00 (€ 70.768,86) versteigert wurde.
