Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Australian Big Pineapple, Nambour, Queensland by Noel McKenna was auctioned at Sothebys in Melbourne in August 2009, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of AUD 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for AUD 7,800.00 (€ 4,585.77). Other works by Noel McKenna have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in July 2020 by the work Green Door, Merrylands, 2005 at AUD 9,760.00 (€ 8,289.45).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Australian Big Pineapple, Nambour, Queensland von Noel McKenna im August 2009 bei Sothebys in Melbourne versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von AUD 8.000,00 – 12.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für AUD 7.800,00 (€ 4.585,77) den Besitzer. Andere Arbeiten von Noel McKenna wurden auch schon teurer gehandelt; den höchsten Preis, den wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachten konnten, erzielte im Juli 2020 die Arbeit Green Door, Merrylands, 2005 mit AUD 9.760,00 (€ 8.289,45).
