Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Nilima Sheikh could be acquired at Sothebys in London in October 2021 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Modern & Contemporary South Asian Art auction, the work After Cover of a Divan of Shahi (Set of 2) changed hands for GBP 4,788.00 (€ 5,672.49) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 6,000.00 – 8,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Nilima Sheikh achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Going Away in June 2011 with an auction result of GBP 79,250.00 (€ 87,675.39).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Dieses Kunstwerk von Nilima Sheikh konnte im Oktober 2021 bei Sothebys in London für einen unerwartet niedrigen Preis ersteigert werden. In der Auktion Modern & Contemporary South Asian Art wechselte die Arbeit After Cover of a Divan of Shahi (Set of 2) für GBP 4.788,00 (€ 5.672,49) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 6.000,00 – 8.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Nilima Sheikh erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Going Away im Juni 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 79.250,00 (€ 87.675,39).
