Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2007 Christies in London held the auction Turin London Corfu The Collection of Giorgio Marsan and Umberta Nasi, which included the work The Giant Lantern by Mortimer Luddington Menpes. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 4,375.00 (€ 5,944.88) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Mortimer Luddington Menpes have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Benares, Blue Is The Sky in June 2011 with an auction result of GBP 30,000.00 (€ 33,189.42).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Dezember 2007 führte Christies in London die Auktion Turin London Corfu The Collection of Giorgio Marsan and Umberta Nasi durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Giant Lantern von Mortimer Luddington Menpes zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 4.000,00 – 6.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 4.375,00 (€ 5.944,88) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Mortimer Luddington Menpes auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Benares, Blue Is The Sky im Juni 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 30.000,00 (€ 33.189,42).
