Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work An Illustrated Letter From The Artist To Miss Stoney by Mortimer Luddington Menpes was auctioned at Christies in London in December 2007, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 400.00 – 600.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 375.00 (€ 509.56). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Mortimer Luddington Menpes achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Benares, Blue Is The Sky in June 2011 with an auction result of GBP 30,000.00 (€ 33,189.42).
