Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In October 2016 Sothebys in New York held the auction American Art, Including the Collection of George S. Parker II from the Caxambas Foundation, which included the work Chocolate Cosmos And Lobelia by Morris Graves. Here, the upper estimate of USD 30,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for USD 32,500.00 (€ 29,647.87). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Morris Graves - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Bird Singing in the Moonlight, which sold at auction in November 2003 for USD 141,900.00 (€ 118,299.29).
