Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Chair by Morris Graves was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in October 2016. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 15,000.00 – 25,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 17,500.00 (€ 15,964.24) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Morris Graves have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Bird Singing in the Moonlight in November 2003 with an auction result of USD 141,900.00 (€ 118,299.29).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Chair von Morris Graves kam im Oktober 2016 bei Sothebys in New York zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 15.000,00 – 25.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 17.500,00 (€ 15.964,24) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Morris Graves auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Bird Singing in the Moonlight im November 2003 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 141.900,00 (€ 118.299,29).
