Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Bird Drinking Out Of Fountain by Morris Graves was sold in the American Art auction at Sothebys in New York in March 2018. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 15,000.00 – 25,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 17,500.00 (€ 14,204.55) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Morris Graves have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Bird Singing in the Moonlight in November 2003 with an auction result of USD 141,900.00 (€ 118,299.29).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Bird Drinking Out Of Fountain von Morris Graves wurde im März 2018 in der Auktion American Art bei Sothebys in New York versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 15.000,00 – 25.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 17.500,00 (€ 14.204,55) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Morris Graves auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Bird Singing in the Moonlight im November 2003 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 141.900,00 (€ 118.299,29).
