Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Nellie Nyad with Veil, 1952 by Milton Greene was auctioned at Christies in New York in April 2019, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 1,875.00 (€ 1,673.96). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Milton Greene achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Nelly Nyad (1952) in October 2000 with an auction result of USD 15,275.00 (€ 18,000.24).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Nellie Nyad with Veil, 1952 von Milton Greene im April 2019 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 1.875,00 (€ 1.673,96) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Milton Greene erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Nelly Nyad (1952) im Oktober 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 15.275,00 (€ 18.000,24).
