Auction result misses estimated price range
In January 2007 a collector was able to acquire the work Queensbury and Aloe, starboard astern by Michael James Whitehand for USD 9,600.00 (€ 7,385.75). This price was achieved in the auction Maritime Art at Christies in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 10,000.00 – 15,000.00 set by the auction house. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Michael James Whitehand - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Ailsa and Britannia racing at the Royal Clyde Yacht Club Regatta, which sold at auction in July 2004 for USD 19,120.00 (€ 15,890.96).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im Januar 2007 konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit Queensbury and Aloe, starboard astern von Michael James Whitehand für USD 9.600,00 (€ 7.385,75) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion Maritime Art bei Christies in New York erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von USD 10.000,00 – 15.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Michael James Whitehand mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Ailsa and Britannia racing at the Royal Clyde Yacht Club Regatta beobachtet, die im Juli 2004 für USD 19.120,00 (€ 15.890,96) versteigert wurde.
