Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work Sea Dragon by Mervyn Peake was auctioned at Christies in London in May 2005. It achieved a price of GBP 1,440.00 (€ 2,125.89), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 20%. Admittedly, works by Mervyn Peake have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The red room in April 2019 with an auction result of GBP 13,750.00 (€ 15,995.22).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit Sea Dragon von Mervyn Peake kam im Mai 2005 bei Christies in London zur Auktion. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von GBP 1.440,00 (€ 2.125,89) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 20%. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Mervyn Peake auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The red room im April 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 13.750,00 (€ 15.995,22).
