Auction result well in line with expectations
In May 2005 Christies in London held the auction 20th Century British Art, which included the work Gate To A Field by Mervyn Peake. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 800.00 – 1,200.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 900.00 (€ 1,328.68) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Mervyn Peake achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The red room in April 2019 with an auction result of GBP 13,750.00 (€ 15,995.22).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Mai 2005 führte Christies in London die Auktion 20th Century British Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Gate To A Field von Mervyn Peake zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 800,00 – 1.200,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 900,00 (€ 1.328,68) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Mervyn Peake erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The red room im April 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 13.750,00 (€ 15.995,22).
