Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Melvin Sokolsky could be acquired at Bonhams in New York in September this year for an unexpectedly low price. In the Prints & Photographs | Bonhams Skinner auction, the work Bubble Seine, Paris changed hands for USD 9,600.00 (€ 9,070.29) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 10,000.00 – 12,000.00. Admittedly, works by Melvin Sokolsky have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Paris 1963 in April 2012 with an auction result of USD 92,500.00 (€ 69,922.14).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Dieses Kunstwerk von Melvin Sokolsky konnte im September diesen Jahres bei Bonhams in New York für einen unerwartet niedrigen Preis ersteigert werden. In der Auktion Prints & Photographs | Bonhams Skinner wechselte die Arbeit Bubble Seine, Paris für USD 9.600,00 (€ 9.070,29) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 10.000,00 – 12.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Melvin Sokolsky auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Paris 1963 im April 2012 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 92.500,00 (€ 69.922,14).
