The »bidding war« ended at GBP 40,000.00 (€ 47,275.32), 33% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Mattia Preti achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work David Playing The Harp Before Saul in January 2008 with an auction result of USD 2,169,000.00 (€ 1,461,491.81).
