However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Mattia Preti - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work David Playing The Harp Before Saul, which sold at auction in January 2008 for USD 2,169,000.00 (€ 1,461,491.81).

Die Arbeit Daniel Interpreting Nebuchadnezzar’S Dream von Mattia Preti kam im Januar 2017 bei Sothebys in New York zur Auktion. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von USD 396.500,00 (€ 367.333,70) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 32%. Für andere Arbeiten von Mattia Preti mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit David Playing The Harp Before Saul beobachtet, die im Januar 2008 für USD 2.169.000,00 (€ 1.461.491,81) versteigert wurde.
