Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In December this year Christies in London held the auction Old Masters Part I, which included the work Saints Vincent Ferrer, Peter Martyr and Raymond of Peñafort by Mattia Preti. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 579,600.00 (€ 667,676.98), 16% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Mattia Preti - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work David Playing The Harp Before Saul, which sold at auction in January 2008 for USD 2,169,000.00 (€ 1,461,491.81).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Dezember diesen Jahres führte Christies in London die Auktion Old Masters Part I durch, in der auch die Arbeit Saints Vincent Ferrer, Peter Martyr and Raymond of Peñafort von Mattia Preti zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 579.600,00 (€ 667.676,98) und damit 16% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Mattia Preti mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit David Playing The Harp Before Saul beobachtet, die im Januar 2008 für USD 2.169.000,00 (€ 1.461.491,81) versteigert wurde.
