Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Jael and Sisara by Mattia Preti was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in May last year. The price achieved of USD 32,760.00 (€ 30,528.38) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 30,000.00 – 40,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Mattia Preti achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work David Playing The Harp Before Saul in January 2008 with an auction result of USD 2,169,000.00 (€ 1,461,491.81).
