Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work Saint Paul by Mattia Preti was sold in the Old Masters Part II: Paintings, Sculpture, Drawings and Watercolours auction at Christies in London in December this year. It achieved a price of GBP 35,280.00 (€ 40,641.21), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 18%. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Mattia Preti achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work David Playing The Harp Before Saul in January 2008 with an auction result of USD 2,169,000.00 (€ 1,461,491.81).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit Saint Paul von Mattia Preti wurde im Dezember diesen Jahres in der Auktion Old Masters Part II: Paintings, Sculpture, Drawings and Watercolours bei Christies in London versteigert. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von GBP 35.280,00 (€ 40.641,21) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 18%. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Mattia Preti erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit David Playing The Harp Before Saul im Januar 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 2.169.000,00 (€ 1.461.491,81).
