Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Study of a male nude by Mattia Preti was sold in the Old Master Paintings Part I auction at Christies in New York in January 2012. The price achieved of USD 37,500.00 (€ 28,729.03) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 30,000.00 – 50,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Mattia Preti achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work David Playing The Harp Before Saul in January 2008 with an auction result of USD 2,169,000.00 (€ 1,461,491.81).
