Auction result well in line with expectations

The work Christ And The Woman Taken In Adultery by Mattia Preti was sold in the Old Master and British Paintings Evening Sale auction at Sothebys in London in December 2011. The price achieved of GBP 97,250.00 (€ 116,470.61) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 80,000.00 – 120,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Mattia Preti achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work David Playing The Harp Before Saul in January 2008 with an auction result of USD 2,169,000.00 (€ 1,461,491.81).
