Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2000 Christies in London held the auction DECORATIVE, SPORTING AND TOPGRAPHICAL PRINTS, which included the work Under the Tree, (the Lady of Shalott) by Matthijs Maris. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 300.00 – 500.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 329.00 (€ 524.09) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Matthijs Maris achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The four mills in November 2010 with an auction result of EUR 205,000.00.
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Dezember 2000 führte Christies in London die Auktion DECORATIVE, SPORTING AND TOPGRAPHICAL PRINTS durch, in der auch die Arbeit Under the Tree, (the Lady of Shalott) von Matthijs Maris zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 300,00 – 500,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 329,00 (€ 524,09) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Matthijs Maris erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The four mills im November 2010 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 205.000,00.
