Auction result well in line with expectations

It changed hands for a price of EUR 18,750.00 achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of EUR 15,000.00 – 20,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Matthijs Maris achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The four mills in November 2010 with an auction result of EUR 205,000.00.
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit The Return: de thuiskomst van het dronken mannetje von Matthijs Maris kam im Oktober 2014 bei Christies in Amsterdam zur Auktion. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von EUR 18.750,00 den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von EUR 15.000,00 – 20.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Matthijs Maris erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The four mills im November 2010 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 205.000,00.
