This artwork by Matthew Wong achieved an unexpectedly high price at Phillips in Hong Kong in November 2021. In the 20th Century & Contemporary Art Evening Sale in Association with Poly Auction auction, the work Far Away Eyes sold for HKD 21,183,000.00 (€ 2,355,334.90) - well above the upper estimate of HKD 12,000,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Matthew Wong - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Night Watcher, which sold at auction in May last year for USD 5,897,150.00 (€ 5,495,433.79).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Matthew Wong erzielte im November 2021 bei Phillips in Hong Kong einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion 20th Century & Contemporary Art Evening Sale in Association with Poly Auction wurde die Arbeit Far Away Eyes für HKD 21.183.000,00 (€ 2.355.334,90) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von HKD 12.000.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Matthew Wong mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The Night Watcher beobachtet, die im Mai letzten Jahres für USD 5.897.150,00 (€ 5.495.433,79) versteigert wurde.
