Auction result well in line with expectations
The work E Face by Matthew Monahan was sold in the 20th Century & Contemporary Art Day Sale auction at Phillips in London in March 2017. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 11,250.00 (€ 13,183.89) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Matthew Monahan have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Morning Thaw in May 2008 with an auction result of USD 92,000.00 (€ 59,125.96).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit E Face von Matthew Monahan wurde im März 2017 in der Auktion 20th Century & Contemporary Art Day Sale bei Phillips in London versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 10.000,00 – 15.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 11.250,00 (€ 13.183,89) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Matthew Monahan auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Morning Thaw im Mai 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 92.000,00 (€ 59.125,96).
