Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Matthew Monahan could be acquired at Sothebys in London in March 2015 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Bear Witness | #SothebysBearWitness auction, the work Dictator Equator changed hands for GBP 6,875.00 (€ 9,505.05) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 8,000.00 – 12,000.00. Admittedly, works by Matthew Monahan have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Morning Thaw in May 2008 with an auction result of USD 92,000.00 (€ 59,125.96).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Dieses Kunstwerk von Matthew Monahan konnte im März 2015 bei Sothebys in London für einen unerwartet niedrigen Preis ersteigert werden. In der Auktion Bear Witness | #SothebysBearWitness wechselte die Arbeit Dictator Equator für GBP 6.875,00 (€ 9.505,05) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 8.000,00 – 12.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Matthew Monahan auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Morning Thaw im Mai 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 92.000,00 (€ 59.125,96).
