Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2018 Sothebys in London held the auction Made in Britain / Online, which included the work Piccadilly Circus No. 159 by Matthew Lindop. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 1,000.00 – 1,500.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 1,063.00 (€ 1,199.03) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Matthew Lindop - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Piccadilly Circus no. 38, which sold at auction in November 2017 for GBP 3,250.00 (€ 3,689.23).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im November 2018 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Made in Britain / Online durch, in der auch die Arbeit Piccadilly Circus No. 159 von Matthew Lindop zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 1.000,00 – 1.500,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 1.063,00 (€ 1.199,03) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Matthew Lindop mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Piccadilly Circus no. 38 beobachtet, die im November 2017 für GBP 3.250,00 (€ 3.689,23) versteigert wurde.
