Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Matthew Lindop achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in September last year. In the Christie's London Staff Auction auction, the work A Colourful Union, 2012 sold for GBP 1,134.00 (€ 1,290.60) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 400.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Matthew Lindop - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Piccadilly Circus no. 38, which sold at auction in November 2017 for GBP 3,250.00 (€ 3,689.23).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Matthew Lindop erzielte im September letzten Jahres bei Christies in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Christie's London Staff Auction wurde die Arbeit A Colourful Union, 2012 für GBP 1.134,00 (€ 1.290,60) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 400,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Matthew Lindop mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Piccadilly Circus no. 38 beobachtet, die im November 2017 für GBP 3.250,00 (€ 3.689,23) versteigert wurde.
