This artwork by Matthew Darbyshire achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in March 2019. In the The George Michael Collection Online Auction auction, the work Untitled Shelves No. 4 sold for GBP 8,125.00 (€ 9,430.44) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 3,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Matthew Darbyshire; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Untitled: Shelves No.5 (and 3 details) sold at auction in June 2013 with the realized price of GBP 10,000.00 (€ 11,671.79).
