In December 2012 Christies in London held the auction Old Master, Decorative, Modern & Contemporary Prints including an Important Private Collection by Lill Tschudi, which included the work A large Collection of Views, Landscapes, Hunting Scenes and the Four Seasons by Matthäus Merian the Elder. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 2,375.00 (€ 2,929.03), 58% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Matthäus Merian the Elder achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Travellers in a harbour with galleons at anchor in July 2011 with an auction result of GBP 39,650.00 (€ 45,504.31).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 58 % übertroffen
Im Dezember 2012 führte Christies in London die Auktion Old Master, Decorative, Modern & Contemporary Prints including an Important Private Collection by Lill Tschudi durch, in der auch die Arbeit A large Collection of Views, Landscapes, Hunting Scenes and the Four Seasons von Matthäus Merian the Elder zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 2.375,00 (€ 2.929,03) und damit 58% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Matthäus Merian the Elder erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Travellers in a harbour with galleons at anchor im Juli 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 39.650,00 (€ 45.504,31).
