Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work A cavalry battle, a town on the skyline by Matthäus Merian the Elder was sold in the Old Master & British Pictures & Old Master Drawings auction at Christies in London in December 2008. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 1,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 1,125.00 (€ 1,181.58). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Matthäus Merian the Elder achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Travellers in a harbour with galleons at anchor in July 2011 with an auction result of GBP 39,650.00 (€ 45,504.31).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit A cavalry battle, a town on the skyline von Matthäus Merian the Elder wurde im Dezember 2008 in der Auktion Old Master & British Pictures & Old Master Drawings bei Christies in London versteigert. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von GBP 1.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für GBP 1.125,00 (€ 1.181,58) einen neuen Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Matthäus Merian the Elder erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Travellers in a harbour with galleons at anchor im Juli 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 39.650,00 (€ 45.504,31).
