Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Pattern Portrait (Widow) by Matt Sheridan Smith was auctioned at Sothebys in London in April 2018, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 2,125.00 (€ 2,420.15). Admittedly, works by Matt Sheridan Smith have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Pattern Portrait (Widow) in November 2015 with an auction result of USD 12,500.00 (€ 11,834.88).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Pattern Portrait (Widow) von Matt Sheridan Smith im April 2018 bei Sothebys in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 4.000,00 – 6.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 2.125,00 (€ 2.420,15) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Matt Sheridan Smith auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Pattern Portrait (Widow) im November 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 12.500,00 (€ 11.834,88).
