Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Mathias Goeritz achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in May 2019. In the Impressionist & Modern Art Day Sale auction, the work The Prophet sold for USD 325,000.00 (€ 291,505.96) - well above the upper estimate of USD 120,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Mathias Goeritz; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Mensaje sold at auction in November 2015 with the realized price of USD 466,000.00 (€ 441,204.32).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Mathias Goeritz erzielte im Mai 2019 bei Sothebys in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Impressionist & Modern Art Day Sale wurde die Arbeit The Prophet für USD 325.000,00 (€ 291.505,96) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 120.000,00. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Mathias Goeritz; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Mensaje im November 2015 mit dem Hammerpreis von USD 466.000,00 (€ 441.204,32).
