In September 2012 Sothebys in New York held the auction American Paintings, Drawings & Sculpture, which included the work The Appointed Room by Marvin Dorwart Cone. The »bidding war« ended at USD 80,500.00 (€ 62,616.68), 34% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Marvin Dorwart Cone have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Stone City Landscape in November 2012 with an auction result of USD 752,500.00 (€ 578,401.23).

Im September 2012 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion American Paintings, Drawings & Sculpture durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Appointed Room von Marvin Dorwart Cone zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 80.500,00 (€ 62.616,68) und damit 34% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Marvin Dorwart Cone auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Stone City Landscape im November 2012 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 752.500,00 (€ 578.401,23).
