Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Floor Display by Martin Maloney was auctioned at Sothebys in London in November 2010, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 15,000.00 – 25,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 5,000.00 (€ 5,974.99). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Martin Maloney - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Untitled Portrait (Jerry), which sold at auction in February 2007 for USD 20,400.00 (€ 15,419.50).
