Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A Conversation Piece #1 Towel Dry by Martin Maloney was auctioned at Sothebys in Milan in April 2011. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of EUR 6,000.00 – 8,000.00, the actual price achieved of EUR 6,250.00 could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Martin Maloney - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Untitled Portrait (Jerry), which sold at auction in February 2007 for USD 20,400.00 (€ 15,419.50).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit A Conversation Piece #1 Towel Dry von Martin Maloney kam im April 2011 bei Sothebys in Mailand zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von EUR 6.000,00 – 8.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von EUR 6.250,00 konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Martin Maloney mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Untitled Portrait (Jerry) beobachtet, die im Februar 2007 für USD 20.400,00 (€ 15.419,50) versteigert wurde.
