Upper estimated price slightly exceeded

Here, the upper estimate of USD 500,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for USD 564,500.00 (€ 500,132.90). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Martin Johnson Heade achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Great Florida Sunset in November 2015 with an auction result of USD 5,850,000.00 (€ 5,538,723.73).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit Sunset: Sky and Marsh von Martin Johnson Heade wurde im November 2021 in der Auktion American Art bei Sothebys in New York versteigert. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von USD 500.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für USD 564.500,00 (€ 500.132,90) einen neuen Besitzer.
