Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Haystack at Sunset by Martin Johnson Heade was auctioned at Christies in New York in November 2019. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 300,000.00 – 500,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 350,000.00 (€ 317,633.18) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Martin Johnson Heade achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Great Florida Sunset in November 2015 with an auction result of USD 5,850,000.00 (€ 5,538,723.73).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Haystack at Sunset von Martin Johnson Heade kam im November 2019 bei Christies in New York zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 300.000,00 – 500.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 350.000,00 (€ 317.633,18) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Martin Johnson Heade erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Great Florida Sunset im November 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 5.850.000,00 (€ 5.538.723,73).
