Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Martin Johnson Heade could be acquired at Sothebys in New York in May 2018 for an unexpectedly low price. In the American Art auction, the work Apple Blossoms In A Nautilus Shell Vase changed hands for USD 162,500.00 (€ 139,245.93) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 200,000.00 – 300,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Martin Johnson Heade achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Great Florida Sunset in November 2015 with an auction result of USD 5,850,000.00 (€ 5,538,723.73).
