This artwork by Mario Merz achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in October 2021. In the Post-War and Contemporary Art Day Sale auction, the work Lumaca (Snail) sold for GBP 32,500.00 (€ 38,503.72) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 15,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Mario Merz achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Piccolo caimano in October 2015 with an auction result of GBP 962,500.00 (€ 1,346,297.09).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Mario Merz erzielte im Oktober 2021 bei Christies einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Post-War and Contemporary Art Day Sale wurde die Arbeit Lumaca (Snail) für GBP 32.500,00 (€ 38.503,72) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 15.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Mario Merz erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Piccolo caimano im Oktober 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 962.500,00 (€ 1.346.297,09).
