This artwork by Marian Ellis Rowan achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in October 2012. In the Travel, Science and Natural History auction, the work White Butterflies: Sixty-Two Butterflies, In Five Columns, Representing Five Families: Pieridae (Appias 17-22, 36-43; Delias 23,24), Lycaenidae (47-50; Pithecops Dionisius 1,2; Prosotas 3,4; Nacaduba 5-8; Danis 51,52; Danis Perpheres 55,56; Hypolycae sold for GBP 7,500.00 (€ 9,324.93) - well above the upper estimate of Admittedly, works by Marian Ellis Rowan have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Decorated Screen with Wildflowers, c.1880 in November 2021 with an auction result of AUD 59,040.00 (€ 52,307.96).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Marian Ellis Rowan erzielte im Oktober 2012 bei Christies in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Travel, Science and Natural History wurde die Arbeit White Butterflies: Sixty-Two Butterflies, In Five Columns, Representing Five Families: Pieridae (Appias 17-22, 36-43; Delias 23,24), Lycaenidae (47-50; Pithecops Dionisius 1,2; Prosotas 3,4; Nacaduba 5-8; Danis 51,52; Danis Perpheres 55,56; Hypolycae für GBP 7.500,00 (€ 9.324,93) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 3.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Marian Ellis Rowan auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Decorated Screen with Wildflowers, c.1880 im November 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von AUD 59.040,00 (€ 52.307,96).
